North London Flyers - Very Expensive

I took a cab yesterday with North London Flyers cab firm based in Crouch End London, from Archway to Farringdon Road. The car was a Ford Galaxy as I had a drum kit to transport. The fare was £23 one way. That seemed expensive to me.

After the gig, we hailed a London Black Cab from the side of the road and easily got myself, my girlfriend and the drum kit in. This was at 11.30, so night rates apply meaning that the cab fare will be 25% higher than in the day. Even at this rate, the black cab (which are normally seen as more expensive than private hire cabs) cost £16.20, almost £7 cheaper than the North London Flyers cab.

I called North London Flyers to see if I'd been ripped off by the driver. North London Flyers informed me that, as the car was a large People Carrier class of vehicle, the fare was one and a half times the cost. Considering a black cab can happily fit a kit and two people in (and I'm not sure the North London Flyers car would have taken two passengers once the kit was in) I can't see any reason to use North London Flyers as they are extremely expensive.

I will use black cabs over North London Flyers everytime, and I recommend that you always check the price for a journey, especially when using North London Flyers.

I will say that North London Flyers were very polite (both the driver and the person who answered the phone) and offered a prompt and efficient service. However I found that North London Flyers prices were far too high compared to other services such as the black cabs.
