I'm going to LA in a week.
To figure it out, to see where too much of our culture comes from.
Just to SEE IT
(so many people say to me, 'why are you going to LA, its a shite hole.' And I say, 'have you been there?', and they say 'no.' It is bizarre to be surrounded by so many people how prejudge stuff they know fuck all about. These blinkered, sad people are the kind of people who prescribe to you which films you should like what music you should listen to. And when you volunteer a film you like, or a music track you groove to, they dismiss it, usually when they haven't even heard it, through some misplaced sense of moral superiority. Well, thats fine by me, they can miss out on all sorts of decent stuff that they (gasp) might like. But I would rather not know them, talk to them, even be aware of their existence.)

So, anyway, I'm reading this excellent book about Sunset Boulevard and its history and all that has happened along that 23 miles in just 100 years. If you are heading LA bound, check out this top standard coffee table book - Sunset Boulevard: Cruising the Heart of Los Angeles
